Caregiver – Black Girlhood Unfolded

Caregiver

Caregiver, Module 2: “Behavior or Becoming?”

🌺 Behavior or Becoming?

To help parents and educators recognize that what’s often labeled as “attitude,” “defiance,” or “disrespect” in Black girls is frequently normal developmental behavior — expressions of growing autonomy, emotion, and identity — that deserve curiosity, not correction.

Caregiver, Module 3 Title: “The Quiet Shift: When She Pulls Away”

🌸 The Quiet Shift: When She Pulls Away

To help parents and educators understand that when a Black girl becomes quieter, more private, or less openly expressive, it doesn’t always mean something is “wrong.”
It may mean she is learning herself — finding safety, voice, and balance in a world that often misreads her.
This module invites parents and educators to support that growth by responding with curiosity, not control.

Caregiver, Module 4 Title: “Circles Are Changing: Friendships, Feelings, and Finding Her Place”

🌸 Circles Are Changing: Friendships, Feelings, and Finding Her Place

To help parents and educators understand that social changes — caring more about friends, shifting friend groups, exploring crushes, or experiencing “friendship drama” — are normal developmental tasks of puberty.
For Black girls, these social-emotional shifts can also be sites of resistance, belonging, and cultural expression — not immaturity or instability.
