Welcome Girls!
Hey there! đź’ś
Welcome to your space on Black Girlhood Unfolded — a place made just for you to explore, express, and celebrate what it means to grow and change. Here, we believe that puberty isn’t just about your body — it’s about you: your feelings, your friendships, your culture, your voice, and your story.
Growing up can be exciting and confusing all at once. Your body is learning new rhythms, your emotions are stretching in new directions, and sometimes people might treat you differently because of how you look or act. But remember: you are still you — strong, growing, and becoming.
In this space, you’ll find stories, drawings, activities, and reflections that remind you that every part of growing up is worth understanding and celebrating.
You’re not alone in this journey!

Understanding Puberty from Your Point of View
Puberty is more than just your body changing — it’s your emotions, your friendships, and the way you see yourself in the world.
Some days you might feel excited and powerful. Other days you might feel unsure, frustrated, or just “different.” All of it is okay.
Sometimes adults or friends might not understand what’s really going on inside you. That’s why learning about puberty is about more than science — it’s about feelings, culture, and confidence.
It’s about learning to care for yourself — your body and your spirit.
- Your body is your own. It’s growing, stretching, and becoming stronger every day — in its own time
- Your feelings matter. Big emotions don’t make you dramatic; they make you human.
- You are part of a bigger story. Your family, culture, and community shape who you’re becoming — and that’s something to be proud of.
- You can talk about it. Asking questions, sharing stories, or journaling are brave ways to learn about yourself.
- You deserve care. Taking care of your body and heart is how you show love to yourself

Explore to Learn
Puberty is often talked about as something that happens to the body—but for many girls, especially Black girls, it’s also something that happens to how they’re seen and treated in the world.
We invite you to slow down and view puberty through her perspective: the shifting emotions, the changing friendships, the curiosity about identity, and the new ways others may respond to her growing body or voice.
